Calvin at the Millennium

The Tunnel

Room 6 are looking at books by Anthony Browne for the Pinehill School Readers and Writers Festival. Today we looked at The Tunnel and all had a go at describing our own tunnels.

Calvin used Clicker Sentences to put together his ideas.

Using Clicker Sentences

Calvin had seen the book Stripes, a wordless book, and talked about the pictures and the theme of stripes. The words for each sentence were entered into Clicker Sentences in a random order. Calvin clicked on the relevant picture and moved the words into the correct order to make a sentence.

Super Silent Reading

Calvin enjoys reading along with a story on the ipad during SSR. He is more engaged with this task than when he was asked to read a paper book. He will go straight to his desk rather than put it off.

Writing about badminton - 20 May

Wendy asked Calvin to tell her about Badminton. He then recorded the words.

Weight

Calvin used an app on the ipad to work out how to make different objects balance on a set of scales. He also used real scales to find out how many cubes different classroom items weighed.

Shadow Puppets

Calvin used his shadow puppet to make shadows in the classroom.

Problem Solving

Calvin worked with Maddisen and used the Numicon pegs and some shapes to solve a maths problem today. Great work you two.

Superhero

Calvin worked with Wendy to come up with words that described the superhero in the cartoon image. He found the letter sounds for the words himself.
